Kevin Baker: Helping People and Dogs Find Homes in The Woodlands

Kevin Baker, Realtor in The Woodlands, Texas

In February 2020, Woodlands Online featured local real estate professional Kevin Baker in its “Faces of The Woodlands” series. The profile highlighted Kevin’s commitment to The Woodlands, his work in real estate, and his dedication to helping people and animals throughout the community.

Kevin moved to The Woodlands in 2004 and began working in real estate approximately eight years before the original article was published. Since then, he has used his business, his relationships within the local business community, and his personal time to support causes that are important to him.

Helping People and Dogs Find Homes

Kevin has always seen a meaningful connection between his real estate career and his passion for helping animals.

“I often say that I help people find homes, but I also help dogs find homes too,” Baker said.

That commitment became especially important following Hurricane Harvey. After the devastating flooding, numerous displaced dogs were found wandering throughout the area. The Montgomery County Animal Shelter brought many of the animals to the Montgomery County Fairgrounds, where Kevin and his wife volunteered to help.

They initially assisted by cleaning kennels. After completing the required training, they began walking shelter dogs and participating in the shelter’s weekly Wednesday walks.

Kevin explained that walking shelter dogs benefits both the volunteers and the animals. Volunteers get outside, enjoy fresh air, and stay active, while the dogs receive an important break from their kennels. That time outside can also make a noticeable difference in a dog’s behavior and personality.

At the time of the Woodlands Online profile, Kevin and his wife had three rescue dogs of their own. Their pack included a long-term foster dog who had experienced severe emotional trauma.

Supporting Operation Pets Alive

Kevin’s dedication to animals also extends into his real estate business. Through the Kevin Baker Real Estate Team, he has sponsored and promoted charity events benefiting Operation Pets Alive.

He has also donated raffle prizes to help support fundraising efforts, including a stay at his Galveston rental property.

For Kevin, community involvement is not separate from his work in real estate. It is an important part of how he uses his business platform to bring attention to local organizations and encourage others to get involved.

Supporting Meals on Wheels Montgomery County

Animals are not the only focus of Kevin’s community involvement. His real estate business has also sponsored the Miles for Meals 5K, an event benefiting Meals on Wheels Montgomery County.

The organization helps address food insecurity among seniors in the local community. Kevin has worked to increase awareness because many residents may not realize how many seniors in Montgomery County need assistance obtaining regular meals.

He views this support as an opportunity to give something back to the community that has supported his real estate career and trusted him to help with important home-buying and home-selling decisions.

Using His Voice in The Woodlands Business Community

Approximately five years before the original profile was published, Kevin joined The Woodlands Area Chamber of Commerce because he wanted to become more involved locally.

His Chamber membership gave him opportunities to connect with area business owners, discuss causes that are important to him, and encourage other local professionals to support organizations serving the community.

Kevin believes that simply using your voice to increase awareness can make an important difference. Whether he is discussing animal rescue, Meals on Wheels, or another local need, his goal is to help more people understand how they can contribute.

Recognized as a Face of The Woodlands

Woodlands Online concluded its profile by thanking Kevin for everything he had done—and continued to do—for The Woodlands community.

The original article also recognized Radunare – Italian American Table for providing the contest winners with an authentic Italian meal for them and ten of their family members and friends.

The feature captured an important part of Kevin’s approach to both real estate and community life: helping people, supporting animals, and using local relationships to make The Woodlands an even better place to call home.
